2018 Band Camp Information

What is the JMF Summer Band Camp?

The JMF Summer Band Camp was established in 2014 and is sponsored by the Joseph Manzi Foundation – a charitable organization formed to keep the memory of Joe Manzi alive by giving back to the community. Joe Manzi was an avid musician and member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.

Thanks to the generosity of the Foundation, the Berlin Instrumental Music Department is able to provide students with a safe, fun and educational opportunity to make music during the summer.

Our Mission

Students and residents of Berlin are fortunate to live in a community where the value of music education is well recognized. It is the mission of the Joseph Manzi Foundation Summer Band Camp to continuously support the instrumental music programs in all of the Berlin Public Schools.

Students in grades 5-8 will play alongside each other in beginner and advanced musical ensembles, while being coached by student musicians from Berlin High School. Staff members from the Berlin Schools Music Department will facilitate group lessons and rehearsals throughout the camp.

The ability to play a musical instrument is a skill students can use for the rest of their lives, and there is nothing like the joy of performing music with friends!
